Robopocalypse [Quilting]

Just finished a robot quilt for a friend of mine's boy Blixa.  Blixa is the coolest kid in the world.  Even Hardcore Zen author Brad Warner thinks Blixa rules. Here is Ultraman A.K.A Blixa with Brad.

I used the Robot Factory fabric from Robert Kaufman. I hope he likes it.  

Video Tutorial on Longarm Free Motion Quilting! [Quilting]

Judy over at Green Fairy Quilts has a great tutorial on longarm free motion quilting.  I just started using a longarm and it is taking a little of getting used to but I am starting to get the hang of it.

Okay, I had a little too much fun putting this video together. It is around 6 minutes, so hunker down and plan for that. By the end of the video you will either be dancing or thinking I am the biggest dork - either way I had fun putting this together. I hope you like it!

Bobs Heavy Metal Quilt [Metal, Quilting]

I completed another T-shirt quilt for my friend Bob.  He had some cool shirts definitely!













Had some Extra screen printing from the sleeves of this long sleeve Entombed Shirt that I appliqued to the square.







He had some extra shirts that did not fit the theme so I cut them up, put interfacing on them, and appliqued then to the back of the quilt.







Now to finish my so called Simplicity Quilt.

New Quilt: Another Heavy Metal T-Shirt Quilt [Quilting] [Music]

A friend of mine saw the Enslaved T-shirt quilts I made and asked me if I would make a quilt for him out of some of his shirts.  Hey, free material!  He had some cool shirts so I figure I will give it a whirl.

 I have made a couple of squares.  I like this one the best so far. 





I appliqued the back of the Blut Aus Nord shirt to the back of the quilt square. I thought that might look kinda cool.

My sewing on this was not the greatest but Vera likes it so that is the important thing...









The stitching isn't great but it's pretty good for a rookie...

Enslaved Quilts! [Quilting] [Music]

So I had not quilted in about 10 years and what better way to begin again that with a damn hard project. Knits are not fun to sew with....
One of my all time favorite bands is Norwegian extreme progressive metal band Enslaved. So needless to say, I have a butt-load of shirts from the seeing them in concert a number of times. So it was time to make some room in the closet and pay tribute at the same time!

Beginnings...



I first cut shirt fronts and backs into 14 inch squares. The 16x16 square ruler is my new friend.




Then I put black fusible interface on the back to make them easier to deal with.



I did this a little different from a regular quilt in that I quilted each square individually and then sewed them together afterword.
